When you join as a Product Definition Engineer in Instrumentation, you’ll become a key part of our Test and Experimental Engineering (T&EE) Instrumentation Design team in Bristol, supporting some of the most advanced defence and civil gas turbine engines, you’ll produce and check component definitions in-line with company practices to meet design intent, satisfying fit, form and function of the component whilst optimising manufacture, to enable the delivery of fit-for-purpose component hardware ready to be built into test engines.

This role sits within our Test and Experimental Engineering (T&EE) Instrumentation Design team.

What you will be doing

With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to:

  • Work within the multi-disciplined Instrumentation Design team to ensure new and revised component definitions are fit for purpose (meets design intent, manufacturable etc.) and meet engine build and test schedule requirements for engine programme customers.

  • Create, review and approve component definition drawings for instrumentation components, ensuring quality and adherence to Rolls-Royce standards is maintained.

  • Produce tolerance stack-ups to aid new product creation & validation.

  • Interface with manufacturers to ensure that components are suitably defined and can be manufactured, incorporating their feedback into definitions.

  • Drive the development and introduction of continuous improvement (of tools, processes, methods and guidance material) within the team to improve team capabilities and efficiency.

  • Have experience in product definition experience in a highly regulated industry.

  • Trained and experienced in the use of CAD tools, with demonstrable experience of component definition and drawing standards.

  • A good knowledge of engine components and associated manufacturing capabilities.

  • An eye for detail and an ability to apply logical, analytical, and innovative thinking to a range of technical problems.

  • Someone who is positive, self-motivated and driven, able to deliver at pace against fixed timescales.
