Job summary

Vector Recruitment Ltd in Hitchin is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer - Technical Compliance to ensure all electromechanical products meet regulatory standards and are supported by robust technical documentation.

You will join the engineering team, handling compliance activities throughout the lifecycle, including CE/UKCA, risk assessments and documentation control. A Mechanical/Mechatronics background with CAD skills will help you succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• Requirements include HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electrical Engineering or similar.
• Experience in Product Compliance, Technical Documentation, Technical Quality, or Certification is preferred.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications and Bills of Materials.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Confidence working with engineers and stakeholders.
• Good organisational and document control skills.

Responsibilities

• Support product compliance and certification activities during the product lifecycle.
• Prepare, review and maintain technical documentation and files.
• Assist CE Marking and UKCA compliance activities.
• Contribute to risk assessments and DFMEA activities.
• Review drawings and BOMs to ensure compliance.
• Support product certification programmes and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain product compliance records.
• Assist with engineering change control and documentation management.
• Collaborate with Mechanical Design Engineers to resolve compliance issues.
• Support continuous improvement of product compliance and quality systems.

Mechanical Design Engineer - Technical Compliance

Mechanical / Mechatronics Background - Hitchin | £40,000 - £50,000 + Benefits

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer - Product Compliance Engineer to join a successful and growing engineering business. Working closely with the Mechanical Design team, you will play a key role in ensuring products are designed, documented and certified in accordance with relevant UK and international standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced Compliance Engineer or a Mechanical Design Engineer who has developed an interest in product compliance, certification and technical documentation.

The company designs and manufactures high-quality electromechanical products and has built an excellent reputation for engineering excellence, innovation and product quality.

The Role

Working as part of the engineering team, you will be responsible for supporting product compliance activities throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring products meet the required regulatory, certification and documentation requirements.

Responsibilities will include:

• Supporting product compliance and certification activities
• Preparing, reviewing and maintaining technical documentation and technical files
• Supporting CE Marking and UKCA compliance activities
• Conducting risk assessments and supporting DFMEA activities
• Reviewing engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and design documentation to ensure compliance requirements have been properly addressed
• Supporting product certification programmes
• Ensuring products comply with relevant legislation, standards and regulations
• Managing and maintaining product compliance records
• Assisting with engineering change control and documentation management
• Working closely with Mechanical Design Engineers and other stakeholders to resolve compliance-related issues
• Supporting continuous improvement activities relating to product compliance and quality systems

Requirements

• HNC, HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a similar engineering discipline
• Previous experience within Product Compliance, Technical Documentation, Technical Quality, Quality Engineering, Product Certification, Compliance Engineering or Technical Auditing
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, technical specifications and Bills of Materials
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
• Excellent written communication skills
• Confidence working with engineers and technical stakeholders
• Good organisational and document control skills

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

• Machinery Directive
• Technical File generation and maintenance
