Leonardo UK Ltd is seeking a Product Assurance Manager to lead quality activities for the GCAP Electronics Evolution Consortium at our Reading site. The role involves coordinating across partner companies to assure compliance with quality standards and to manage configurations, defects and acceptance processes.

You will report to the Quality Director within the G2E Consortium and work across national and international sites, with potential relocation to Reading as timelines evolve.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM or business-related topic.
• Experience in a Quality or Product Assurance role.
• Understanding of ISO 9001.
• Analytical and problem solving skills.

• Familiar with Government Furnished Equipment/Property handling during tests.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate internal/external design reviews to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Support improvement initiatives for defects and fault analysis with engineering.
• Execute and support Functional/ Product Configuration Audits and configuration management.
• Provide quality-related support to customer-related activities.
• Manage product Non-Conformities and product acceptance activities.
• Verify documentation coherency and contractual documentation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to address key management issues.

At Leonardo we are recruiting for a Product Assurance Manager to work on our GCAP Electronics Evolution Consortium (G2E) at our Reading site.

G2E brings together four world‑leading defence electronics champions, from three nations (Italy, UK and Japan), as a single strategic enabling partner, with one vision…to deliver the Integrated Sensors And Non‑Kinetic Effects and Integrated Communications Systems (ISANKE & ICS) that will make the GCAP next‑generation fighter jet, a sensor powerhouse.

The Product Assurance Manager, will represent the interests of Leonardo UK and as such will report to the Quality Director, in the G2E Consortium but be Line Managed via the Head of Quality FCA, Leonardo UK. This role will be a Leonardo UK employee.

As part of an international consortium it is expected that this role will involve travel internationally as well as nationally between Leonardo UK sites if needed. It is also likely that the role will start at our Luton site and subsequently move to Reading, dependent on timelines.

As a Product Assurance Manager, you will perform a coordinating role across a Sub-System interfacing with your equivalents in the Partner companies working with them to assure that:

• internal/external program design reviews to ensure compliance with quality standards and identify improvement and cost efficiency actions are performed
• improvement initiatives related to product defects, fault analysis, and failures in conjunction with the engineering department are supported when requested
• the execution of Functional Configuration and Product Configuration Audits and configuration management activities are being undertaken and provide support when requested
• Programme Manager has support in quality related customer-related activities.
• product Non-Conformities in compliance with standards and procedures are being managed
• product acceptance activities are being undertaken
• processes to assess compliance with internal standards and customer requirements are in place and effective, providing support where needed
• the coherency and availability of contractual documentation is being verified
• First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with EN9102 are being undertaken, providing support when requested
• Reviews of documentation related to internal and external manufacturing processes to ensure compliant products are delivered to the customer are undertaken
• Collaboration with stakeholders to address and resolve key management issues is being undertaken, taking a support or co-ordinating role if asked to do so

What you’ll bring:

Essential

• A degree in a STEM or business related topic
• Experience of working in a Quality or Product Assurance role
• An understanding of ISO 9001
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Evidence of good collaboration skills and cross geographic working, to reach agreements and form partnerships
• Familiar with requirements for handling and control of Government Furnished Equipment/Property during field, ground or operational tests
