Job summary

Leonardo UK seeks a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to lead QA activities within the IPT, partnering with Operations to ensure compliant, timely product delivery.

You will mentor assurance teams, drive MRB/FRB, support audits, and push continuous improvement across lifecycle. This role requires experience in AS9100/ISO9001 and a strong team leadership mindset.

Qualifications

• Ideally degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or Defence Electronics.
• Knowledge of AS9100 / ISO9001 and continuous improvement.
• Experience with Quality Tools: RCA, Pattern Fault Lifecycle, Process Mapping, Verification, First Article Inspection.

Responsibilities

• Offer advice, support and assistance on all Quality Assurance / Quality Control matters.
• Support Principal Quality Engineer in driving objectives to meet / exceed targets including LPS/KPI goals, QL4 effectiveness, supplier and customer timely RCCA.
• Contribute actively to IPT requirement to deliver a compliant product in a timely manner meeting all cost and safety requirements.
• Support creation of Quality Plans defining QA activities aligned to Risk, Opportunity and Improvement within the Programme and associated Projects.
• Provide leadership to the Assurance Teams to meet Programme and IPT objectives.
• Actively ensure LPS goals for Quality KPIs including QNs, MRB, FRBs etc are achieved by supporting improvement plans.
• Lead the Assurance function’s improvement plans across all phases of the Programme, Product and Project Lifecycle.
• Mentor others to grow Quality excellence within the Programme/Projects.
• Attend IPT meetings and contribute to key discussions.
• Lead in concessions / production permits, IDN requests, CoC signoffs, Receiver requests, CoAs processing.
• Support QA milestones within the Programme lifecycle including audits and signoffs.
• Ensure timely delivery of reports and data to Programme and function.
• Lead root cause investigations on MRBs, FRBs, SCARS and customer complaints.

Your impact

As Senior Quality Assurance Engineer You Will Interact At Integrated Project Team (IPT) Level. Working In Partnership With The Operations Team / IPT To

• Offer advice, support and assistance on all Quality Assurance / Quality Control matters

• Provide leadership to the Assurance Teams in order to meet Programme and IPT objectives


• Actively ensure LPS goals for Quality KPIs including QNs, MRB, FRBs etc are achieved by supporting improvement plans and active management of key activity such as MRB etc


• Lead the Assurance function’s improvement plans across all phases of the Programme, Product and Project Lifecycle


• Mentor others in order to grow Quality excellence within the Programme/Projects


• Successfully apply interpersonal skills to positively influence behaviours within Quality at individual and team level


• Attend and contribute to key meetings including (but not limited to ) IPT morning meetings, DPU forums, Engineering WO meetings etc.


• Take leadership in ensuring concessions / production permits, IDN requests, CoC signoffs, Receiver requests, CoAs are processed correctly and in timely manner, directly supporting where required.


• Support achievement of quality assurance milestones within the Programme, Product and Project lifecycle i.e., timely review and completion of Quality compliance matrices, internal audits, TCU signoffs, providing inputs into bid activities etc.


• Ensure delivery of reports and supporting data to the Programme, Project and function in a timely manner.


• Actively manage a root cause and corrective action investigations by taking lead on key MRBs, FRBs, SCARS and customer complaints.

What You’ll Bring

• Further education and experience ideally in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or experience in Defence Electronics or similarly \"complex\" industry.


• Be able to demonstrate knowledge within the areas of AS9100 / ISO9001 and Continuous improvement.


• Some knowledge and practical experience of Quality Tools such as Root Cause Corrective Action, Pattern Fault Lifecycle, Process Mapping, Verification and First Article Inspection.


• Be a logical thinker, capable of harvesting complex data into actions with practical solutions that supports business goals, in 'the language of the business'.


• Have good interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style across all functions of the business.


• Be able to demonstrate experience in working with Customers and Suppliers.


• Have demonstrated experience working in high precision manufacturing environment.
