We're looking for a Product Analyst to help Prolific strategically scale our human data pool.

Central to our mission of delivering high-quality data to cutting-edge AI developers, you'll be responsible for analysing the product lifecycle of new feature releases on Prolific's platform and increasing metrics such as participant acquisition, engagement, and retention related to the pool. You'll be a key part of the experimentation pipeline, using a mixture of ship-and-learn and A/B testing to measure feature performance and impact. The analyses and recommendations you provide will shape Prolific's long-term human data strategy and foster a metrics-driven, experimentation culture across the company.

What you'll bring to the role

• Analytics Expertise: Basic proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation, with experience in spreadsheets (Google Sheets, Excel). Willingness to learn Python for statistical analysis and dbt for building and reviewing data tables, with training and self-learning supported.
• Data Visualisation: Experience with BI tools (e.g., Metabase, Looker, Tableau) for data operations and visualization, able to communicate insights effectively.
• A/B Testing: Basic understanding of experimentation procedures and statistical concepts such as t-tests and chi-squared tests.
• User Analytics: Understanding of key metrics like acquisition, engagement, and retention.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze data for trends and insights.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to present findings.
• Collaboration: Comfortable working with cross-functional teams.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to identify patterns and errors in data.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Willingness to build partnerships and share insights that drive results.
• Business Acumen & Data Storytelling: Ability to translate data into compelling narratives influencing decisions.
• Process Design & Documentation: Involvement in product roadmapping, experimental pipeline, and maintaining clear documentation.

What you'll be doing in the role

• Data Analysis & Insights: Analyze product usage data, optimize key metrics, and conduct cohort analysis.
• A/B Testing & Experimentation: Design, run, and interpret tests, providing actionable recommendations.
• Reporting & Dashboarding: Develop dashboards in Metabase, and generate reports to support decisions.
• Self-service Solutions: Create dashboards and tools for team use.
• Quality Monitoring: Develop metrics for participant quality, task completion, and data reliability.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with product managers and engineers on success metrics and data collection.
• Analytics Infrastructure: Collaborate with analysts and engineering for aligned metrics and data models.
• Analytics Advocacy: Promote data-driven culture through training and documentation.
