Job description

About the role

At National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED), we're powering one of the biggest transformations in energy history. With electricity demand expected to double by 2050, we're investing significantly in our network to deliver a cleaner, more resilient energy future for our customers.

Our Procurement team manages around £1bn of annual spend across critical network infrastructure and services, making it a strategic enabler of our ambitious investment plans. As we continue to deliver against ED2 and shape our long-term strategy for ED3 and beyond, we're looking for a Procurement Pricing Manager to help drive commercial excellence across our supply chain.

This is a unique opportunity to shape pricing strategy for some of the UK's most critical energy infrastructure categories, including transformers, cables, switchgear, accessories and associated services.

You'll play a pivotal role in developing sophisticated pricing models, cost assurance methodologies and market intelligence tools that enable better procurement decisions, improve forecasting accuracy and maximise value for our customers and shareholders.

Working closely with Category Managers, Finance, Supply Chain and senior business stakeholders, you'll turn complex market and commercial data into actionable insights that influence strategic decisions across the organisation.

The role is hybrid with our office based in Warwick, you can enjoy working from home and the office.

What you'll do

  • Develop and implement pricing strategies across major procurement categories within Electricity Distribution.

  • Provide robust market intelligence and cost analysis to support sourcing and commercial decision-making.

  • Improve cost forecasting accuracy by integrating procurement insights into wider business planning processes.

  • Lead the development of risk management and forecasting approaches, including strategies related to raw material markets and foreign exchange exposure.

  • Design and develop AI-enabled pricing tools and \"should-cost\" models to provide greater cost transparency and assurance.

  • Support Category Managers with pricing insights that strengthen tendering activities and procurement strategies.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to procurement teams and wider business stakeholders, balancing customer outcomes, financial targets, and commercial risk.

  • Contribute to strategic initiatives across Group Procurement and working collaboratively across National Grid businesses.

What you'll need

We're looking for a commercially minded procurement professional with a passion for turning data into strategic business value.

  • Experience in infrastructure, utilities, manufacturing, energy, or component procurement.

  • Strong commercial acumen with expertise in pricing strategy, market analysis, and risk management.

  • Experience developing sophisticated pricing models and analytical tools using Excel and/or specialist pricing software.

  • The ability to translate complex data and market dynamics into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience working across multiple business functions.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders confidently.

  • A proactive, adaptable approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification in Finance, Engineering, Economics, Supply Chain, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £61,000 - £76,000 per annum - dependent on capability.

  • Bonus based on personal and company performance.

  • Competitive contributory pension scheme with double match up to a maximum company contribution of 12%.

  • Share incentive plan.

  • Salary sacrifice car and technology schemes.

  • Employee assistance lines.

  • Matched charity giving.
