Job summary

The role at CIPS involves delivering procurement support and professional guidance across significant Council projects, aligned with the Forward Work Programme. You will help apply UK and Welsh procurement rules and champion local and national policies.

You will work under the Commercial Lead and Principal Procurement Officer to support contract management and governance strategies, with travel across borough offices as needed.

Qualifications

• Five GCSEs Grade A-C or equivalent.
• Membership to CIPS or actively studying towards examinations.
• Good working knowledge of UK Public Contract Regulations.
• Experience in procurement activities.
• Full UK Category B driving licence for business travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide procurement support and professional advice across major projects.
• Support implementation of UK/Welsh procurement legislation within the Council.
• Support adherence to Standing Orders for Contracts and the 5-Year Socially Responsible Procurement Strategy.

Job description

Under the general direction of the Commercial Lead, Procurement & Collaboration, and the relevant Principal Procurement Officer, the post holder will be responsible for: Providing procurement support and professional advice across a range of significant and high-profile projects aligned to the Council's Forward Work Programme, particularly within the Housing and Corporate Assets portfolios. Supporting the implementation and application of UK and Welsh Government procurement legislation across the Council. Supporting the delivery of the Council's Standing Orders for Contracts, the 5-Year Socially Responsible Procurement and Contract Management Strategy, and wider corporate objectives, while actively promoting and championing local and national policies, priorities and initiatives.

• 5 GCSEs Grade A - C or qualifications set at a similar level on the Credit and Qualifications Framework.
• Membership to the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply or actively studying towards the institute's examinations.
• Good working knowledge of the UK Public Contract Regulations.
• Experience in procurement activities.
• A full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the borough to visit Council offices which are not on bus routes to attend meetings and support service areas.
