Job summary

MCS Group in Ballymena or Carrickfergus is seeking a part-time procurement professional to lead procurement activity within a busy Finance and Procurement team. The role involves contract management, policy guidance and expert advice to internal stakeholders across procurement requirements.

The successful candidate will drive procurement plans, manage contracts, and develop tender specifications to maximise efficiency, with a focus on achieving value for money and compliance.

Qualifications

• Possess or be working towards full membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).
• Experience in procurement with knowledge of procurement law and regulations.
• Experience drafting procurement policies, guidance and training.
• Experience applying procurement procedures, including tenders and quotes.
• Experience working with internal and external stakeholders to support outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and management of procurement plans with internal stakeholders.
• Manage a portfolio of contracts ensuring value for money and compliance.
• Provide advice on procurement policy and routes (frameworks, collaboration).
• Support market research and tender specifications to maximise efficiency.
• Build relationships with stakeholders to identify savings opportunities.
• Analyse spend and market data to highlight non-compliant spend and corrective actions.

Join a busy Finance and Procurement team where you'll take a lead role in managing procurement activity, supporting contract management, and providing expert advice to internal stakeholders across a wide range of procurement requirements.

The Role

• Take a lead role in developing and managing procurement plans, working closely with internal stakeholders to understand procurement requirements.
• Manage a portfolio of contracts, ensuring value for money and compliance with procurement legislation and procedures.
• Provide day-to-day advice on procurement policy and determine the most appropriate procurement routes, including framework agreements and collaborative opportunities.
• Support market research and the development of tender specifications to maximise procurement efficiency and effectiveness.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, identifying opportunities to generate savings and additional value.
• Collect, analyse and report spend and market data, identifying areas of non-compliant spend and supporting corrective actions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, procurement training, risk management, and the development of procurement processes, tools and systems.

The Person

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Essential

• Possess or be working towards full membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).
• Experience working in a procurement role, with good knowledge and understanding of procurement and contract law and regulations.
• Experience drafting procurement policies, guidance and training.
• Experience applying procurement procedures, including tenders and quotes.
• Experience working effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to establish, maintain and support organisational outcomes.
