Job summary

Alongside is seeking a Procurement Manager in Bath to lead end‑to‑end procurement activities, from planning and sourcing to contract negotiation and supplier management.

You will oversee contracts across building maintenance, cleaning, and energy services, driving value, compliance, and ethical, local sourcing practices. The role emphasizes strategic yet hands‑on procurement leadership in a social care context.

Qualifications

  • CIPS Level 4 qualification minimum with strong experience in public sector procurement and understanding of the Procurement Act 2023 and full procurement cycle.
  • Excellent communication skills to confidently manage and review complex documentation.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail, able to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end procurement and tendering processes with compliance to the Procurement Act (above and below threshold).
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop specifications and tender docs, with auditable records of procurement activity.
  • Oversee procurement systems and contracts register, ensuring data is up to date and well‑managed.
  • Provide expert advice, drive continuous improvement, and deliver value for money while supporting ethical and local sourcing priorities.

About The Role:

As Procurement Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our services are supported by high-quality, cost-effective contracts that deliver real value. You’ll lead on all aspects of procurement, overseeing the end-to-end process, from planning and sourcing through to contract negotiation and ongoing supplier management.

This is a varied and impactful role, where you’ll manage a diverse portfolio of contracts, including areas such as building maintenance, cleaning services, and energy provision. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure compliance, drive efficiencies, and maintain high standards across all services.

You’ll bring a strategic approach to procurement while remaining hands‑on, identifying opportunities for improvement, building strong supplier relationships, and ensuring contracts align with organisational values and operational needs. What You’ll Be Doing:
