Job summary

Gap Personnel in Caerphilly is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead the full purchasing function in a busy manufacturing environment. You’ll source materials cost‑effectively, manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, ensure on‑time delivery, and take ownership of stock control and supplier performance.

This role emphasises cost analysis, compliance, and cross‑functional collaboration with production and finance teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a purchasing or procurement role within manufacturing or engineering.
• Strong negotiation skills and confidence managing supplier performance.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
• Solid understanding of stock control systems and ERP/MRP platforms.
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Procurement Oversight — Manage end-to-end purchasing of raw materials, components, and consumables.
• Supplier Management — Build strong supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, and monitor performance.
• Stock Control — Maintain accurate stock levels, forecast demand, and prevent shortages or overstocking.
• Cost Analysis — Review spend, analyse trends, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Compliance & Documentation — Ensure all purchasing activity meets internal and external compliance standards.
• Cross-Department Collaboration — Work closely with production, planning, and finance teams to support operational efficiency.
