Job summary

Butler Ross is seeking a Procurement Lead for its Camberley base. The role owns designated commodities, drives supplier performance, and supports procurement strategies to align with Cost, Quality and Delivery targets.

The successful candidate will manage supplier selection, negotiate terms, validate supplier parts, and assist planning and production with procurement needs. ISO 9001 awareness and travel flexibility are required.

Qualifications

• Experience managing Electronic, Electrical and connected commodities within a regulated environment.
• Ability to understand engineering requirements and translate them to suppliers.
• Experience auditing and developing supplier performance and improvement plans.
• Strong negotiation skills with ability to achieve commercial outcomes with suppliers.
• Analytical capabilities with Microsoft Excel to analyse data for decision making.

Responsibilities

• Identify and select new suppliers aligned with commodity strategies and capability.
• Lead RFQs, pricing and lead-time requests; negotiate terms and award contracts for NPI.
• Validate new supplier parts to meet technical, quality and business requirements.
• Support Material Planning and Production with purchasing, supplier coordination and planning parameters.
• Monitor supplier performance and drive improvement plans; manage escalation processes.
• Ensure supplier compliance with ISO 9001 and standards; oversee part costing and finance alignment.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Lead to join a leading manufacturing business based in Camberley, offering a salary of up to £55,000.

The Procurement Lead will take ownership of designated commodities, managing and developing supplier relationships to ensure consistent performance across Cost, Quality and Delivery. The role will play a key part in driving supplier performance, supporting business objectives, and ensuring the effective delivery of procurement strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Supplier Selection & Sourcing: Identify and select new suppliers in line with commodity strategies, ensuring appropriate capability, capacity and commercial alignment.
• Commercial Negotiation & Contracting: Manage RFQs, pricing and lead-time requests, negotiate commercial terms, and award new supplier contracts in line with New Product Introduction (NPI) requirements.
• Supplier & Part Validation: Coordinate the verification and validation of new supplier parts to ensure compliance with technical, quality and business requirements.
• Supply & Production Support: Support Material Planning and Production teams with recurring purchasing, supplier coordination, planning parameters, and resolution of supply or lead-time issues.
• Supplier Performance & Improvement: Monitor supplier performance, coordinate resolution of quality issues, manage escalation processes, and develop improvement plans to address identified gaps.
• Compliance, Cost & Governance: Ensure suppliers meet ISO 9001 and applicable standards, maintain appropriate oversight, support technical/commercial queries, and ensure accurate part costing in line with Finance requirements.Initial focus: Electronic, Electrical and associated connected commodities.

Skills & Experience Required

• Commodity & Industry Experience: Experience managing Electronic, Electrical and connected commodities within a regulated environment.
• Engineering & Supplier Management: Ability to understand engineering requirements and effectively flow them down to suppliers, ensuring requirements are clearly understood and delivered.
• Supplier Assessment & Development: Experience auditing and assessing supplier performance, identifying gaps, and coaching suppliers to develop and implement improvement plans.
• Commercial & Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills with the ability to develop effective commercial outcomes with suppliers.
• Analytical & IT Skills: Strong analytical capability with good proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, to analyse data and support decision-making.
• Communication & Mobility: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues into clear, actionable summaries. Willingness to travel approximately 20% domestically and 10% within Europe, with a full clean driving licence.

Salary

Up to £55,000
