Job summary

Amey is offering a Procurement Graduate role with a two-year pathway, mentored development, and a guaranteed permanent position on completion. Starting salary is £30,000 with 37.5-hour weeks across nationwide locations.

You will learn across work-winning, category management and operational procurement, using the Amey process and SAP for data handling. A hybrid working pattern and a supportive team await you.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:2 degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Studies/ Business Management Degree or a related discipline.
• Membership of, or prepared to work towards a corporate membership of CIPS.
• Full UK driving licence.
• A fully committed team member.
• An effective communicator and negotiator.

Responsibilities

• Apply the Amey Corporate Procurement Process.
• Work with business divisions/contracts to identify purchasing needs.
• Evaluate the marketplace and supply base to maximise purchasing leverage.
• Ensure suppliers are evaluated to Amey requirements.
• Prepare detailed bid/tender documents for the supply chain to price.
• Evaluate tenders and pricing submissions and prepare recommendations.
• Negotiate with supply chain to obtain competitive pricing with quality and risk management.
• Ensure agreements are in place to transact with suppliers for contracts.
• Achieve and report procurement cost savings.
• Maintain robust procurement data in SAP with Master Data.
• Provide procurement support to business divisions.
• Carry out supplier reviews.

Starting Salary:£30,000 per annum (Subject to review)

Location:Nationwide (Sheffield, Ireland, Manchester, North Yorkshire, East Midlands, Oxford)

Working hours per week:Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, 37.5 hours per week.

About the team:

Amey's Procurement function is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the suppliers, materials, and services required to deliver infrastructure and public service contracts across the UK. The team works closely with operational, commercial, finance, and project teams to ensure the business achieves value for money while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, sustainability, and compliance.

Support procurement activity for contracts up to £50m PA.

What you will do:

Working within Amey's Procurement team, you will help identify material and service framework requirements across all business divisions and individual contracts. Using Amey's procurement process, you will gain experience across work-winning, category management and operational procurement through a structured graduate pathway.

• Apply the Amey Corporate Procurement Process.
• Work with Amey business divisions/contracts to identify Amey purchasing needs.
• Evaluate the marketplace and supply base to ensure Amey maximise our purchasing leverage.
• Ensure suppliers are evaluated to Amey requirements.
• Prepare detailed bid / tender documents for supply chain to price.
• Evaluate tenders, pricing submissions and prepare recommendation papers.
• Work with supply chain and negotiate to obtain most competitive pricing combined with security of supply / service, considering quality, whole life costing and risk profile.
• Ensure appropriate agreements are in place to enable Amey to transact with suppliers to support our operational contracts.
• Achieve and report procurement cost savings.
• Work with Transaction Services Master Data team to ensure robust procurement data in SAP.
• Support the Business Divisions with sound procurement support.
• Carry out 360-degree supplier reviews.
