Job summary

Amey is offering a Project Management Graduate position based in Bedford with travel to sites. The two-year Graduate Pathway provides mentoring, structured learning, and a guaranteed permanent role on completion. The starting salary is £30,000 per year, with potential review.

You will be supported by a strong early careers network and gain exposure to TfL projects. Working hours are 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:2 degree in Project Management or a relevant field.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to work towards a recognised project management qualification.
• Ability to travel to TfL offices and project sites as required.
• Applicants must pass a PTS Medical for this role.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Project Manager and team with project coordination and administration.
• Prepare meeting agendas, presentations, and progress reports using templates.
• Attend meetings, take notes, and follow up actions.
• Maintain action/risk/issue/change registers with the team.
• Support information gathering for programme and cost reporting.
• Assist with document control and project records.
• Collaborate across design, engineering, commercial, planning and construction.

Starting Salary: £30,000.00 (Subject to review)

Location: Bedford, with travel required.

Working hours per week: Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, 37.5 hours per week. Occasional weekend and night site work will be classed as overtime.

Amey’s delivery of the Transport for London Infrastructure Improvement Framework (IIF) forms part of its wider rail delivery operations, supporting upgrades, renewals and improvements across TfL’s transport infrastructure. The framework focuses on delivering safe, reliable and efficient project outcomes for TfL and its stakeholders, with activity spanning site-based delivery, office coordination and collaboration with engineering, operational and technology partners. For a Project Manager Graduate, this environment provides exposure to live rail projects, stakeholder engagement and programme delivery, together with the opportunity to develop practical project management skills within a safety-critical industry. The graduate will work alongside experienced colleagues, rotate through relevant project functions and gradually take on more responsibility as their skills and confidence develop.

What you will do:

• Support the Senior Project Manager, Project Managers and wider team with routine project coordination and administration.
• Help prepare meeting agendas, presentations, progress reports and other project documents using agreed templates.
• Attend project and stakeholder meetings, take clear notes and follow up agreed actions.
• Update action, risk, issue, decision and change registers with support from the project team.
• Gather and check information for programme, cost and performance reporting.
• Assist with document control, filing and the maintenance of accurate project records.
• Work with colleagues across design, engineering, commercial, planning, construction and assurance to understand how each discipline contributes to delivery.
• Support site visits, inspections and project reviews in accordance with safety requirements and personal competence.
• Follow Amey and TfL procedures for health, safety, environment, quality and project assurance, asking for guidance where required.
• Build positive working relationships with TfL, delivery partners, suppliers and internal teams.
• Apply feedback, reflect on lessons learned and maintain evidence of progress towards agreed development objectives.
• Take responsibility for small, clearly defined tasks or work packages with appropriate supervision, increasing responsibility as competence develops.
• Curious and willing to learn, ask questions and act on feedback.
• Able to organise tasks, manage time and meet agreed deadlines with support.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Enthusiasm for being part of a high-performing team and a drive for success.
