What you will do:
• Support the wider procurement team with negotiation of supplier contracts to ensure favorable terms and conditions with a view to lead your own procurement projects in due course across multiple categories including IT, Digital, Operations, Services, Facilities and HR
• Cleanse, analyse, and manipulate spend data using complex formulas and make data-driven recommendations using data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI)
• Write and communicate summaries and reports of spend requests, restructuring ambiguous worded descriptions for clarity and ease of understanding
• Take ownership of our spend governance processes; set up and facilitate review meetings, ensuring meeting materials are prepared in advance and documenting review outcomes
• Maintain procurement dashboards, assist in analysing procurement data and identifying trends, patterns, and opportunities for cost savings
• Support the procurement team in organising, updating, and maintaining supplier and contract information
And... we are a bank so risk is a part of everything we do. We love people who take responsibility, do the right thing for customers, colleagues and Metro Bank and have the ability to call out any concerns.
What you will need:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Engineering, or a similar numerical discipline
• Grade A in Mathematics GCSE or equivalent
• A keen interest in procurement and supplier negotiation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess data and identify trends
• Excellent influencing, communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in an easy-to-understand format
• A basic understanding of procurement principles is desirable
• Be prepared to stick at something – we wonder what might be the issue if someone has jumped from job to job as we want people who are prepared to learn and grow
• Care about doing a great job and exceeding expectations with the quality of what you do
• Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders
• You live in England and must have been resident since 2020 to be eligible for this programme
Our promise to you…
• We will make sure that you are well-rewarded by providing you with a competitive salary, discretionary annual bonus, and a wide range of benefits, including generous holiday allowance, attractive pension scheme, healthcare, life assurance, and a number of colleague discounts!
• We will give you the training to ensure you succeed in your role and plenty of internal opportunities to progress your career (around 40% of our recruitment comes from internal promotions!).
Diverse teams really are the best teams. We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box. We also know that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, and while we can’t accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked. So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren’t sure if you are 100% there yet… why not give it a whirl? Please note that sometimes we may close a job earlier for applications if we are inundated with amazing candidates.. Good luck!
