The role plays an integral part in supporting the Council's procurement, contract and supply chain activity, helping to ensure that goods, works and services are procured effectively, compliantly and in line with strategic objectives.
The role will support the Council's Housing and Repairs and Maintenance departments, contributing to procurement exercises, supplier engagement, contract documentation, performance monitoring and the ongoing improvement of procurement and supply chain arrangements across Council services.
The successful candidate will contribute throughout the procurement and contract management lifecycle. Working closely with contract managers, operational teams, suppliers and procurement colleagues, you will help prepare and develop tender and contract documentation, support procurement timetables, monitor supplier performance and assist with reporting, benchmarking and process improvement. You will help ensure procurement activity complies with Council policies, standing orders, financial regulations and relevant UK procurement legislation, while supporting the delivery of best value, service quality and effective supply chain management.
Although we offer hybrid-working, the successful candidate will need to ensure they can attend in-person meetings in Sheffield, usually at our Manor Lane depot, when required. The successful candidate may also be expected to be in the office 4-5 days a week initially, as part of the induction process and will be expected to spend 2/3 days per week in the office on an ongoing basis.
