Job summary

Johnson Matthey Royston site is seeking a Process Safety Placement Student for a 12-month placement starting June/July 2027. You will support safety management activities and gain exposure to HAZOP/LoPA within a manufacturing setting.

You'll work with engineering teams to update safety registers, assist hazard studies, and promote process safety awareness across site teams. Eligible students pursuing Chemical Engineering with 2:2 or above are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Chemical Engineering degree with 2:2 or above.
• Interest in gaining practical experience in a manufacturing or process environment.
• Strong technical aptitude and interest in process safety and risk management.
• Able to take ownership of tasks and work collaboratively with teams.
• Good communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Curious, proactive and motivated to learn.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of Process Safety Management strategies at the Royston site.

Process Safety Placement Student (12-Month Placement)

Location: Royston, UK (On Site)

June/July 2027 Start for 12 Months Placement

The role

• Supporting the implementation of Process Safety Management strategies at the Royston site.
• Assisting with process safety activities and gaining exposure to HAZOP and LoPA methodologies.
• Helping maintain process safety registers and supporting key safety documentation.
• Supporting completion of actions arising from hazard studies and audits.
• Contributing to engineering standards and process hazard analysis programmes.
• Promoting process safety awareness across site teams.

Key skills that will help you succeed in this role

• Currently studying towards a Chemical Engineering degree with an expected 2:2 or above.
• Interest in gaining practical experience within a manufacturing or process environment.
