Placements24 seeks a highly skilled Process Safety Engineer for our Randburg-based team. You will identify, evaluate, and mitigate process hazards, implement robust safety management systems, and promote a proactive safety culture across oil & gas operations.

Responsibilities include leading HAZOPs/PHAs, developing PSM programs with MOC and PSSR, and analyzing incidents. Requires 6+ years in process safety, CCPSC desirable, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years in process safety engineering, with a strong focus on Oil & Gas.
• Knowledge of LOPA, SIL, and consequence modeling.
• CCPSC certification is highly desirable.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Process Safety Engineer to join their dedicated team in Randburg . This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of safety in all aspects of their Oil & Gas operations . You will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and mitigating process-related hazards, implementing robust safety management systems, and fostering a proactive safety culture. Working closely with engineering, operations, and management teams, you will provide expert guidance on process safety principles and contribute to the prevention of major accidents. This position is key to upholding the company's commitment to operational integrity and responsible resource development.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies and other process hazard analyses (PHAs).
• Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, including Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
• Analyze process safety incidents and near misses to identify systemic issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements for process safety.
• Provide technical expertise and training on process safety principles to engineering and operations personnel.
• Monitor key performance indicators for process safety and report on safety performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering , with a strong focus on the Oil & Gas industry .
• In-depth knowledge of process safety concepts, including LOPA, SIL, and consequence modeling.
• Experience with HAZOP facilitation and leading safety reviews.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Professional certifications in process safety (e.g., CCPSC) are highly desirable.
