Job summary

Employment Solutions Ltd is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance while driving a culture of commitment-based process safety. The role focuses on managing PSM processes, influencing HSE policies and implementing improvement initiatives to meet regulatory safety objectives.

The position is based in Blackburn with a permanent contract and a salary range of £48k–£65k, plus benefits. Working hours are Monday to Thursday and Friday, totaling 39 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Process Safety Engineer.
• Experience with HAZIDs, HAZOPs, risk assessments and MoC.
• Familiar with COMAH, DSEAR, ATEX in chemical manufacturing.
• Degree in a relevant discipline is required.
• Electrical engineering knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement site-specific PSM processes ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Provide expert coaching to line management on PSM concepts.
• Lead delivery of HSE and PSM policies and promote safety culture.
• Participate in cross-functional forums to share best practices.
• Act as a role model moving from compliance-based to commitment-based safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement site-specific processes and procedures for Process Safety Management (PSM) while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Provide expert advice and coaching to line management to build capability and deepen understanding of PSM.
• Lead the delivery of HSE and PSM policies, fostering a culture of safety and hazard management.
• Act as a role model to drive the transition from compliance-based to commitment-based safety practices.
• Participate in cross-functional forums and initiatives to share knowledge and benchmark best practices.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Process Safety Engineer
• Experience with HAZIDs, HAZOPs, Risk assessments, Management of Change (MoC), Root Cause Analysis, Process improvement & more.
• Familiar with Chemical Manufacturing environment - COMAH, DSEAR, ATEX.
• Degree qualified in relevant discipline
• Any knowledge of Electrical engineering, and Electrical safety is advantageous.
