Job summary

ES Recruit is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to drive compliance and foster a commitment-based safety culture in our Blackburn site.

You will manage Process Safety Management (PSM), influence HSE policies, coach line management, and lead improvement initiatives with cross‑functional teams. Based in Blackburn, this permanent role offers a clear path to impact safety performance and regulatory alignment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Process Safety Engineer.
• Experience with HAZIDs, HAZOPs, Risk assessments, Management of Change (MoC), Root Cause Analysis, Process improvement & more.
• Familiar with Chemical Manufacturing environment – COMAH, DSEAR, ATEX.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement site-specific PSM processes and procedures ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Provide expert advice and coaching to line management to build PSM capability.
• Lead delivery of HSE and PSM policies, fostering a culture of safety and hazard management.
• Act as a role model to transition from compliance-based to commitment-based safety practices.
• Participate in cross-functional forums to share knowledge and benchmark best practices.

• Lead the delivery of HSE and PSM policies, fostering a culture of safety and hazard management.
• Act as a role model to drive the transition from compliance-based to commitment-based safety practices.
• Participate in cross-functional forums and initiatives to share knowledge and benchmark best practices.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Process Safety Engineer
• Experience with HAZIDs, HAZOPs, Risk assessments, Management of Change (MoC), Root Cause Analysis, Process improvement & more.
• Familiar with Chemical Manufacturing environment – COMAH, DSEAR, ATEX.
• Degree qualified in relevant discipline
• Any knowledge of Electrical engineering, and Electrical safety is advantageous.

Salary - c £48k - £65k (dependent on experience) + Benefits.

Working hours: 0800 – 1700, Monday – Thursday, 0800 – 1500 Friday, 39hrs
