Job summary

Huawei is seeking a Process Engineer to join Fab Engineering and Technical Operations in Ipswich. You will optimize PVD and etch processes in cleanroom environments, collaborating with process architects and facilities engineers to deliver high-performance devices for R&D and production.

You will own metal deposition and etch tools, mentor operators, and drive SPC, DoE, and SOP development to ensure on-time handoffs to high-volume manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Electrical/Electronic Engineering).
• 2+ years hands-on semiconductor cleanroom experience with deposition and etch equipment (PVD, E-Beam, RIE).
• Strong practical understanding of thin-film deposition, etch, and characterization toolsets.
• Experience with SPC and structured problem-solving methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of metal deposition and etching tools; lead process development and daily operations.
• Mentor operators and technicians to keep wafer development on schedule.
• Schedule maintenance, chamber cleans, and tool upkeep across modules.
• Maintain SPC across equipment for repeatable process platforms.
• Collaborate on design reviews, FMEAs, and tool/facility support.
• Develop SOPs and train engineers and operators; scale new PVD/Etch steps.
