Job summary

Kier Group is recruiting a Process Engineer to join the Thames Water upgrade project at Maple Lodge Sewage Treatment Works. You will develop and review process designs, ensuring safety, efficiency and buildability while aligning with client expectations and regulatory standards.

You will collaborate with diverse teams across disciplines, using performance data to shape risk mitigation and deliver design documentation for construction, commissioning and operating phases.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering required.
  • Chartered or Incorporated status preferred or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience with water and wastewater treatment processes.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and reviewing process designs that are safe, efficient, buildable and compliant with standards.
  • Using site performance insights to identify risks and support programme, quality and operations.
  • Producing and reviewing key process deliverables such as models, mass balances, control philosophies and design docs.
  • Working across disciplines to ensure integrated process solutions from design to operation.
  • Collaborating with engineers, operators and clients to develop practical, safe solutions.

Job description

Location:

Maple Lodge STW, Maple Cross

Hours:

40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Join us as a Process Engineer on one of Thames Water's most significant infrastructure upgrades at Maple Lodge Sewage Treatment Works. This major scheme will play a vital role in increasing treatment capacity, improving environmental performance and strengthening long-term resilience for the region. It's an opportunity to be part of a high-profile project that combines complex civil, mechanical, electrical and process engineering challenges with meaningful outcomes for customers, communities and the environment.

What will you be responsible for?
  • Developing and reviewing process designs that are safe, efficient, buildable and aligned with legislation, industry standards and client expectations
  • Using site performance insight to identify risks, shape mitigation plans and support strong programme, quality and operational outcomes
  • Producing and reviewing key process deliverables, including models, mass balances, control philosophies, technical reports and design documentation
  • Working across disciplines to ensure process solutions are fully integrated, coordinated and ready for construction, commissioning and operation
  • Collaborating with engineers, specialists, operators, construction teams and the client to develop solutions that are practical, safe and fit for purpose
What are we looking for?
  • You hold a degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a closely related discipline
  • You're working towards Chartered or Incorporated status with a recognised professional institution or bring equivalent professional experience
  • You have a strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes, with practical experience in process design for wastewater infrastructure projects
  • You're collaborative and enjoy working closely with clients and stakeholders to reach innovative solutions
  • You're trusted to deliver what you promise and act safely and ethically at all times
