Job description

FLI Water is a specialist water and wastewater process technology and services company within the FLI Group. We design, build and operate municipal and industrial treatment plants across the UK and Ireland — and we’re growing. We’re now looking for a talented Process Engineer to join our team and help us continue to lead in innovative, sustainable wastewater treatment solutions.

About the Role

As a Process Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing, delivering and commissioning process designs for new and existing projects. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure high‑quality, technically robust solutions that support efficient project delivery.

This is a hands‑on, varied role where you’ll contribute to everything from early‑stage design through to on‑site commissioning and operator training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and submission of process design and commissioning standards for new and secured projects.
  • Establish process design criteria, mass balance diagrams, PFDs, P&IDs and control philosophies.
  • Produce hydraulic, thermal and power calculations, process specifications and equipment datasheets.
  • Prepare O&M manuals and subcontract design scopes.
  • Review and approve subcontractor deliverables.
  • Prepare commissioning procedures and supervise/undertake commissioning activities.
  • Attend and occasionally lead HAZOP and Hazardous Area Classification meetings.
  • Support due diligence for new technologies and pilot trials.
  • Provide pre‑tender process assessments and project viability input.
  • Liaise daily with proposal, project and client teams.
  • Contribute to marketing materials and development of standard engineering templates.
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Engineering or Science, ideally with experience in the water/wastewater sector.
  • Associate membership of a relevant professional institute and working toward Chartership.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within small multidisciplinary teams.
  • Organised, commercially aware, and able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Innovative, methodical and confident in influencing at all levels.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Proven experience in process design within water/wastewater treatment.
  • Understanding of process risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Broad knowledge of municipal and industrial treatment technologies.
Why Join FLI Water?

You’ll be part of a forward‑thinking organisation committed to technical excellence, innovation and environmental impact. This role offers the opportunity to shape high‑profile projects and contribute to FLI Water’s position as a UK market leader in wastewater treatment technology.
