Job summary

The Green Recruitment Company is seeking a Process Engineer to join its technical team, focusing on large-scale anaerobic digestion and biomethane projects in the UK. You will support process engineering, design assurance and technical delivery across multiple sites.

Responsibilities include reviewing mass/energy balances, PFDs/P&IDs, equipment lists and feedstock documentation, while identifying risks and optimising process options.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering or related field.
• Experience in biogas/anaerobic digestion preferred.
• Experience in waste-to-energy or chemical processing environments considered.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review mass and energy balances.
• Develop and review block flow diagrams, PFDs and P&IDs.
• Carry out line-by-line reviews of P&IDs against PFDs, layouts and project requirements.
• Review equipment lists, valve lists and pump calculations, including sizing, duties and materials.
• Review feedstock baseline documentation, testing methodologies and process assumptions.
• Identify gas losses, data gaps and potential performance risks.
• Support assessments of alternative process technologies and OPEX drivers.
• Review site layouts and CAD models for constructability and operability.
• Prepare and maintain technical comment trackers and design review packs.
• Coordinate technical comments across stakeholders and ensure actions are tracked.
• Maintain deliverables trackers and technical agendas for design coordination.
• Support technical review and progress meetings with EPC contractors and Owner's Engineers.

A fast-growing biogas developer focused on accelerating the transition to low-carbon energy, with a portfolio of large-scale anaerobic digestion and biomethane-to-grid projects across the UK and Europe.

The Role

We are looking for a Process Engineer to join the technical team, supporting process engineering, design assurance and technical delivery across large-scale anaerobic digestion and biomethane projects.

• Prepare and review mass and energy balances.
• Develop and review block flow diagrams, PFDs and P&IDs.
• Carry out detailed, line-by-line reviews of P&IDs against PFDs, layouts and project requirements.
• Review equipment lists, valve lists and pump calculations, including sizing basis, duties, materials and process conditions.
• Review feedstock baseline documentation, testing methodologies and process assumptions.
• Identify gas losses, inconsistent assumptions, data gaps and potential performance risks.
• Support technical assessments of alternative process technologies, including conversion assumptions, process efficiency and OPEX drivers.
• Review site layouts and CAD models, identifying constructability, operability and interface risks.
• Prepare and maintain technical comment trackers and design review packs.
• Coordinate technical comments across multiple stakeholders and ensure actions are tracked through to completion.
• Maintain deliverables trackers and technical agendas to support design coordination.
• Support technical review and progress meetings with EPC contractors and Owner's Engineers.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience within biogas / anaerobic digestion is preferred.
• Relevant experience in waste-to-energy, oil & gas, chemical processing or other process plant environments will also be considered.
