LHH is partnered with a leading steel producer as they seek to recruit a Process Control Systems Engineer to maintain and improve critical process control technology.
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing process control systems across the site. You will work on PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems, diagnosing faults, carrying out upgrades, and implementing improvements to ensure high levels of system reliability and production efficiency. You will work closely with operations and maintenance teams to develop and implement automation strategies, support capital projects, and ensure control systems are optimised for safety and performance. Your role will also involve monitoring industrial networks, working with communication protocols, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
We are looking for a control systems engineer with experience in PLC programming, process automation, and industrial control systems. A 2:1 bachelor’s degree with 4+ years’ experience or HNC with 10+ years’ experience in Electrical, Control Systems, or Automation Engineering is essential. As well as hands-on experience working with Siemens S7, Allen Bradley, or similar PLCs. You should have a strong understanding of SCADA, HMI development, industrial communication protocols, and control network security. Experience in fault finding, system optimisation, and commissioning new control systems will be highly beneficial. The ability to work independently, troubleshoot issues methodically, and collaborate with cross-functional teams is key to success in this role.
