Job summary

LanthaGen Bio is seeking a Process Chemist to own chemistry around the protein-based capture step, with roughly 50% leaching and 50% downstream processing and product formulation. The role is highly hands-on and largely onsite in Central Manchester, with a fixed-term contract of 12 months and a salary range £38,000–£42,000.

Qualifications

• MChem/MSci in Chemistry required or closely related degree.
• PhD in Chemistry advantageous; industry experience preferred.
• Hands-on wet-lab chemical work with acids and metals essential.
• Experience with leaching, metal dissolution, or hydrometallurgy advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Own leaching and downstream processing steps, ensuring metal recovery quality.
• Develop and optimise dissolution routes for industrial residues and by-products.
• Run and interpret analytical data (ICP-OES/MS, XRD, SEM/TEM) for process control.
• Collaborate with biochemists to integrate protein-based capture with downstream flow.
• Translate lab-scale chemistry into scalable, low-toxicity processes with mass balances.
