The Ministry of Justice’s Probation Service is seeking dedicated Probation Services Officers to support offenders and help them turn their lives around. You will manage cases before and after sentence, assess risks, and provide information to courts while working with a network of agencies across the justice system.

New entrants start at the entry point salary with annual pay progression under the Competency Based Framework.

Qualifications

• Probation Services Officers mainly require personal qualities and report-writing ability.
• Experience with social or personal difficulties is advantageous.
• Good writing skills and ability to produce clear reports under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of offenders before and after sentence.
• Assess and manage risks; provide information to courts; work with agencies across the justice system.
• Support offenders with housing and employment guidance; listen and empathise.
