Job summary

Ministry of Justice is recruiting Probation Officers to assess and manage risk posed by individuals on probation, to support victims and public safety across the criminal justice system. You will provide professional assessments, write reports for courts and partnerships, and deliver offender management tasks at all risk levels.

The role involves collaboration with courts, Parole Board, and external agencies, using case management systems, and contributing to safeguarding and rehabilitation

Qualifications

• PQF Honours Degree/Graduate Diploma and Level 5 Diploma in Probation.
• Diploma in Probation Studies; or Diploma in Social Work (Probation option); or CQSW (Probation option).
• Knowledge and understanding of the Criminal Justice System and Probation Service.
• Knowledge of Evidence Based Practice and risk/needs assessment tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional advice and assessment, including written reports to courts, the Parole Board and partner organisations.
• Undertake full range of offender management tasks with people on probation at all risk levels.
• Use computer-based systems to maintain records and documentation.
• Refer and coordinate with offender management, court teams, victim contact units and external agencies.
• Attend professional meetings and represent Probation Services in partnership forums.
