Job summary

King's Academy Bay House is seeking a proactive Science Technician to support the Science Department in delivering practical lessons for ages 11-18. You will prepare equipment, ensure resources are ready, and assist teachers and students with hands-on activities in a safe environment.

The role emphasizes organisation, teamwork and safeguarding responsibilities, with a 37-hour week and standard school hours.

Qualifications

Experience or knowledge of working within a science or practical environment.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
Understanding of science practical work and health and safety requirements.
Ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
Good IT and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Preparing, organising and setting up equipment, materials and resources for practical science lessons.
Supporting teachers and students during practical activities where required.
Collecting, cleaning, maintaining and safely storing scientific equipment and resources.
Ensuring practical resources are available and ready for lessons.
Keeping equipment and resources organised and identifying opportunities to improve provision.
Supporting health and safety, ensuring activities are carried out safely and in line with guidance.
Keeping up to date with developments in practical science and equipment.
Working with colleagues to support high-quality teaching and learning.
Contributing to the wider life and ethos of the school.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
