Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is seeking a Lead for the Private Sector Housing team to improve housing conditions across Central Bedfordshire. The role will manage staff, oversee complex cases, provide expert technical advice and use housing powers effectively.

You will supervise EHOs, review enforcement actions, and liaise with landlords, tenants and partners to resolve housing issues. The post requires an Environmental Health qualification and DBS clearance, with a hybrid working pattern.

Qualifications

• Relevant Environmental Health qualification or equivalent professional qualification.
• Experience in Private Sector Housing or Environmental Health.
• Experience of housing enforcement and complex casework.
• Enhanced DBS.
• Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead EHOs and Technical Officers and support the Private Sector Housing team.
• Review workloads, complex cases and enforcement actions.
• Attend property inspections and provide technical support.
• Advise officers on HMOs, housing conditions and enforcement.
• Review prosecution files, tribunal cases and financial penalty notices.
• Deal with landlords, tenants and other customers.
• Support Housing Assistance and housing improvement programmes.
• Work with colleagues and external partners to resolve complex housing issues.
• Contribute to service improvements and staff development.
