Job summary

Suffolk Local Authority is seeking an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to join their team. The role involves inspecting HMOs and privately rented properties, conducting HHSRS assessments, and investigating housing complaints within a mixed-regulatory environment.

You will work with landlords, tenants and agents to ensure compliance, prepare statutory notices, and contribute to service improvement. A Housing Act 2004 knowledge base and HHSRS qualification are required.

Qualifications

• Experience within a Local Authority, working in Private Sector Housing/Environmental Health.
• Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and associated legislation.
• Understanding of HMO Licensing Schemes.
• Experience carrying out property inspections and HHSRS assessments.
• Confident managing varied caseload and prioritising workloads effectively.
• Excellent written, organisational and communication skills.
• HHSRS Qualification.

This is a varied opportunity, offering exposure to inspections, HMO licensing, housing standards work, complaint investigation, and wider Private Sector Housing regulation.
