Job Description:

A top-performing European private equity firm with €10 billion+ in assets under management is seeking a high-calibre legal professional with strong investment experience to join its growing London-based team. The firm has a proven track record of investing in market-leading businesses across Europe and adopts a hands-on, entrepreneurial approach to value creation, working closely with portfolio companies to drive long-term performance and sustainable growth.

The Role:

This is a rare opportunity for a lawyer with strong private equity experience (4–8 years PQE) to transition into a dynamic buy-side role within one of Europe’s most respected private equity platforms. The role involves working on all aspects of the investment lifecycle, from deal origination and execution to portfolio management and exit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting deal teams on structuring, negotiation, and execution of leveraged buyouts and other private equity transactions across sectors and jurisdictions.
  • Conducting legal due diligence and risk analysis with external counsel.
  • Engaging with management teams, financial advisers, and co-investors to support decision-making.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders (finance, compliance, portfolio operations) on post-deal integration and governance.
  • Driving strategic initiatives and performance improvements across portfolio companies.
Candidate Profile:
  • Qualified in England & Wales with 4–8 years of experience at a top-tier law firm or investment bank, focusing on private equity M&A.
  • Experience advising sponsors or working on high-profile cross-border transactions.
  • Commercially minded, proactive, and confident in high-pressure deal environments.
  • Strong communication skills to influence stakeholders.
  • Interested in transitioning into a principal investment role within a collaborative, high-performing team.
Why Join:

This is an exceptional opportunity to join an entrepreneurial investment platform as part of its in-house legal team, with exposure to high-value private equity transactions. The legal team is expanding, offering technically strong associates the chance to work closely with investment professionals and take ownership of deals from term sheet to closing. Be part of a team committed to long-term value creation across leading European businesses.
