Job summary

Amicus Search & Recruitment is seeking a Personal Tax Senior Associate to join the Private Client Tax team in Belfast, Northern Ireland. You will deliver personal tax compliance services and support clients with their tax obligations across a varied private client portfolio.

You will prepare private client and personal tax returns, assist in tax computations, and liaise with HMRC as needed. Strong communication and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Currently studying toward, or fully qualified in professional accounting/tax credentials (ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA, CA).
• Experience in tax or accountancy practice environment.
• Proficiency with tax and practice management software and MS Office.
• Solid understanding of UK personal tax rules and expenses.

Responsibilities

• Prepare private client and personal tax returns (employment income, investments, and rental adjustments) for review with minimal adjustments.
• Assist in drafting final tax computations and handling electronic submissions to HMRC.
• Communicate professionally with clients to gather required financial documentation and resolve routine queries.
• Liaise directly with HMRC via phone to trace payments, process repayments, and address basic technical queries.
• Support technical research regarding core tax compliance areas, including capital allowances and expense deductibility.
• Manage job budgets, monitor chargeable time, and identify opportunities for workflow improvements.
