Progeny is seeking a Private Client Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join the Private Law team. You will advise on wills, trusts, succession planning, and probate, and work with the Wealth Management team to provide integrated solutions. You will manage a varied caseload, prioritise client service, and ensure regulatory compliance.

This role is hybrid, located in Leeds or Nottingham, and involves mentoring Trainee Solicitors and Paralegals while contributing to team growth.

Qualifications

• PQE of 2-4 years in private client law.

Responsibilities

About The Role

We're looking for a Private Client Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join our growing Private Law team.

In this role, you'll advise a diverse range of clients on complex and rewarding matters, including wills and succession planning, inheritance tax, trusts, estate administration, and probate. You will work closely with colleagues across our Wealth Management team, providing integrated legal and financial solutions that deliver exceptional outcomes for our mutual clients.

You’ll manage your own varied caseload, building trusted client relationships while delivering practical, high-quality legal advice. From initial instruction through to completion, you’ll take ownership of matters, ensuring excellent service, effective case management, and compliance with regulatory and firm standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a developing private client lawyer who enjoys client contact, values collaboration, and is looking to contribute to a supportive and ambitious team.

This role is offered on a hybrid basis and can be based from either our Leeds or Nottingham office.

Key responsibilities

• Arrange and conduct meetings with new and existing clients to establish the necessary advice and services, based on the client’s needs.
• Arranging and attending further client meetings where necessary to progress with the case and finalise documentation.
• Taking and acting upon client instructions.
• Instructing barristers or specialist advocates to appear in court for the client in complex disputes.
• Corresponding with clients and opposing solicitors where necessary.Advising clients on the law and legal issues relating to their cases.
• Drafting of documents, letters and contracts tailored to the client’s individual needs.
• Research and analyse documents and case law to ensure the accuracy of advice.
• Delivery of agreed billing and other targets in accordance with departmental and personal financial controls/budgets.
• Support the development and reputation of the Firm through external involvement in professional organisations and internal contribution at departmental and practice levels.
• Keeping up to date on legislative, regulatory, and client-related developments, changes, and trends.
• Adherence to the standards as set by the SRA and to all the Firm’s Policies and Procedures.
• Support the training and development of Trainee Solicitors and Paralegals.

• Effective relationships with clients that are built on trust and clear communication, in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
• Effective and timely management of multiple cases, ensuring accuracy in records and billing, with deadlines consistently met.

• 2-4yr PQE Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive.
• Consistently deliver high-quality legal services through appropriate monitoring and management of own personal training and development.
• Ability to build and maintain excellent stakeholder relationships within all aspects of the business.
• Ability to always exercise discretion and professionalism.
• Work diligently and in good faith within the general working practices required of a qualified solicitor.
• Ability to work as part of a team, whilst being able to work efficiently on own initiative.
