Job summary

QED Legal LLP in Dundee is seeking an experienced Private Client lawyer at Associate to Legal Director level to take on an influential role within a highly regarded Dundee team.

You’ll handle a high-quality caseload advising individuals on complex executries, trusts, inheritance tax, estate and succession planning and wider private wealth matters, working closely with Partners and mentoring junior colleagues.

Qualifications

• Strong Private Client experience with complex matters.
• Experience with trusts, inheritance tax planning, and high-value executries.
• Ambitious to influence practice development and mentor juniors.
• STEP qualification or progression towards it.
• Able to manage matters independently yet collaborate with Partners.

If you’ve reached the stage in your Private Client career where you’re looking for more than simply managing a caseload, this could be a particularly interesting opportunity.

I’m keen to speak with experienced Private Client lawyers at Associate through to Legal Director level who would like to take on a genuinely influential role within a highly regarded Dundee team.

You’ll handle a high-quality and varied caseload, advising individuals and families on complex executries, trusts, inheritance tax, estate and succession planning and wider private wealth matters. You’ll work closely with experienced Partners, taking the lead on more complex matters and becoming a trusted adviser to clients, often across generations.

However, this role is about considerably more than the technical work.

You’ll have the opportunity to play an important part in the continued development of the team, supporting and mentoring more junior colleagues, sharing your knowledge and helping them develop their own careers.

There will also be plenty of scope to become involved in business development, strengthen existing client relationships and build your own profile within the Private Client market.

I’m particularly interested in speaking with lawyers who are ambitious about their own career but who also enjoy being part of a collaborative team.

You’ll already have strong Private Client experience and be comfortable handling more complex matters independently. Experience of trusts, inheritance tax planning and higher-value executries would be particularly valuable, as would STEP qualification or working towards it.

Perhaps most importantly, you’ll want to have a voice in the future development of the practice rather than simply inheriting another caseload.
