Job summary

Manpower (United Kingdom) is seeking an enthusiastic Instructor (Band 3) to supervise prisoners in non-specialist workshops at HMP Foston Hall, delivering structured work experience and helping develop workplace skills. You will lead safety and quality standards, set schedules, monitor productivity, and maintain attendance and pay records, with probation and security checks in place.

This rotational role offers up to 37 hours per week at £15.40 per hour, with unsocial hours payments where

Responsibilities

• Participate in the selection and induction of prisoners into workshop activities.
• Train prisoners in health and safety procedures, COSHH requirements, and the safe use of tools and equipment.
• Support individual learning and development needs within the workshop environment.
• Set work schedules, monitor productivity, and maintain quality standards.
• Supervise and manage prisoners safely, securely and decently during workshop activities.
• Conduct required prisoner searches and maintain security procedures.
• Maintain accurate attendance, pay, and work records.
• Contribute to prisoner reports, sentence planning, ACCT documentation, VRIRs, SIRs and IEP reviews where required.
• Assist with health and safety risk assessments and workshop reviews.
• Order materials and monitor stock usage to meet operational requirements.
• Attend relevant meetings and provide administrative support for workshop activities.
