Job summary

Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 7 Prison Services Clinical Pharmacist to join the integrated healthcare team at HMP Guys Marsh. Lead medicines optimisation, manage repeat prescribing, and deliver structured medication reviews and minor ailment clinics in a secure environment.

The role involves supporting safe, effective medicine use, collaborating with GPs, nurses, and mental health teams, and contributing to governance, audits and policy development.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Pharmacy required.
• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Clinical pharmacy experience and strong clinical reasoning expected.
• Commitment to CPD and professional development.
• Experience in prison, GP, hospital, community, mental health or substance misuse services advantageous.

• Undertake clinical screening and final accuracy checks when working in the dispensary., You will work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team to identify patients at risk of medicine-related harm, optimise treatment and reduce avoidable hospital admissions. You will develop and maintain repeat prescribing procedures and searches within SystmOne, support long‑term condition clinics and provide specialist pharmaceutical advice to healthcare professionals and patients.

The role includes contributing to clinical governance and medicines management committees, developing policies and procedures, completing audits, supporting public health initiatives and implementing improvements arising from national guidance and medicines safety alerts.

You must hold aMaster's degree in Pharmacy or equivalentand be registered with theGeneral Pharmaceutical Council. You will have relevant clinical pharmacy experience, strong clinical reasoning and communication skills, and a commitment to continuous professional development. Experience within prison, GP, hospital, community, mental health or substance misuse services would be advantageous. The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check and prison security vetting.
