Job summary

Pact, the Prison Advice & Care Trust, is seeking a proactive childcare worker to organise and run a play facility for children visiting a prison. You will provide play opportunities, safeguard children, and work with the children’s services team to maintain a high standard of activities.

The role suits someone with childcare experience in challenging environments and a genuine interest in supporting families affected by imprisonment.

Qualifications

• You will have experience of planning and delivering play to children and families within a challenging environment.
• You should be studying for or have completed a childcare related qualification.
• You must have at least one year’s play work with children.
• You should have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and relate sensitively to visiting children.
• You must be able to work flexibly.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and play opportunities to children visiting the prison.
• Assist in organising a daily play facility for children visiting the prison.
• Ensure play facilities operate to an excellent standard.
• Safeguard children at all times and tailor activities to their needs.
