Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is listing prison officer posts as part of the HMP Lincoln Futures campaign. The first 23 months are spent at HMP Highpoint before a permanent move to HMP Lincoln. The role focuses on safety, relationship-building with prisoners, and varying duties from keeping order to counselling and teaching.

Shifts include evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays. Accommodation support is provided, plus a recruitment and retention bonus and generous annual leave.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 or over at start of employment.
• Civil Service nationality requirements (as applicable).
• Right to work in the UK; sponsorship not guaranteed.

Responsibilities

• Keep prisoners, staff and the prison safe through teamwork.
• Build constructive, professional relationships with prisoners.
• Protect the public and contribute to positive change in prisoners' lives.
• Carry out varied roles in a day, from keeping order to counselling and teaching.
• Work directly with prisoners in a 24-hour setting.
• Cover shifts including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
