Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is advertising a prison officer position on a first-time scheme.

The role is based at HMP Full Sutton for the first 23 months, with a later transfer to HMP Liverpool for a permanent post. You will work in a high-security environment, keeping staff and prisoners safe, and moving between roles such as peacekeeper, counsellor or teacher. Shifts include evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Keep the prison, prisoners and staff safe as one team with colleagues.
• Work directly with prisoners in roles such as peacekeeper, counsellor or teacher.
• Build constructive, positive and professional relationships with prisoners.
• Work a range of shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Help protect the public and make a positive impact on prisoners' lives.
• Serve the first 23 months at HMP Full Sutton, then return to HMP Liverpool as the permanent prison.
