Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is advertising a Prison Officer position at HMP Channings Wood. The role focuses on keeping the prison and the public safe while building professional relationships with prisoners, switching between peacekeeper, counsellor and teacher roles as needed.

You'll work various shifts, including evenings, some nights, weekends and public holidays, with initial training of 37 hours a week, then 37, 39 or 41 hours per week.

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications required.
• DBS checks and medical/fitness assessments are mandatory.
• English language proficiency required for spoken duties.

Responsibilities

• Keep the prison and public safe.
• Build constructive professional relationships with prisoners.
• Move between peacekeeper, counsellor and teacher roles in a single day.
• Help make a positive impact on prisoners' lives.
