Job summary

Qualifications

• Aged 18 or over at starting employment.
• Meets Civil Service nationality requirements.
• Enhanced DBS check
• Legal right to live and work in the UK
• Passes a UK medical and fitness assessment (eyesight and hearing)
• Tattoos, including visible ones, must not be offensive or intimidating; facial tattoos generally not acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Protect the public and help make a positive impact on prisoners' lives.
• Work directly with prisoners, acting as peacekeeper, counsellor or teacher as needed.
• Build constructive, positive and professional relationships with prisoners.
• Work as one team with colleagues to keep the prison and everyone in it safe.
• Cover shifts including evenings, some nights, weekends and public holidays.
