Job summary

Ministry of Justice seeks a Prison Officer for HMP Huntercombe, near Henley-on-Thames. The role focuses on keeping order, protecting the public and building professional relationships with prisoners, with duties ranging from peacekeeping to teaching as required.

Role involves rotating shifts including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays. No formal qualifications are required beyond eligibility checks and medical/fitness assessments.

Qualifications

• Aged 18 or over when employment starts.
• Meets Civil Service nationality requirements and the right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS check.
• Passes a medical and fitness assessment.
• Eyesight and hearing to the required standard, hearing tested without aids.

Responsibilities

• Protect the public and keep the prison safe.
• Work directly with prisoners, acting as peacekeeper, counsellor or teacher as the day requires.
• Build constructive, positive and professional relationships with prisoners.
• Make a positive impact on prisoners' lives.
• Support colleagues and act as one team.
• Work various shifts, including evenings, some nights, weekends and public holidays.
