Job summary

Ministry of Justice is hiring a prison officer. The role offers a unique chance to perform multiple duties in a single day as you develop across shifts. Initial training is followed by a 37-hour week with options for 37, 39, or 41 hours per week, and an annual salary that reflects your hours worked.

Applicants must meet age, nationality, medical, eyesight and hearing requirements. Tattoos are allowed if not offensive, and you must have UK residence for last 3 years to work in high security

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old at the commencement of employment.
• Meet the Civil Service Nationality requirements.
• Pass a medical and fitness assessment.
• Meet the required eyesight standard in both eyes.
• Meet a suitable standard of hearing.
• Tattoos are permitted but must not be offensive, discriminatory, violent, or intimidating.
• To work in a high security prison (category A) you must have been a UK resident for the last 3 years.
