Job summary

London Borough of Hounslow is recruiting a part-time Library Assistant for Feltham Prison. You will support and develop the prison library service within a challenging environment, delivering a first-class service to inmates and working with the library team to promote reading and educational materials.

You will assist with class and unit visits, advise on reading materials, and help deliver outreach activities including a new Book Club, while maintaining a calm, respectful, and proactive

Qualifications

• Provide advice and guidance to library users
• Promote library stock and resources
• Support learning and reading development
• Ability to work flexibly in a prison environment

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily operation of library visits and sessions
• Advise prisoners on suitable reading for pleasure and education
• Support class visits and unit visits to the library
• Deliver outreach activities and a new Book Club
• Work four hours per day, four days per week, including evenings until 7.30pm
