Job summary

The Ministry of Justice seeks a Prison Chaplain to support PSI 05/2016 Faith and Pastoral Care and the broader chaplaincy programme. You will engage with faith communities, provide pastoral care to prisoners, staff and families, and help deliver faith-based and non-faith based courses.

You will lead worship, coordinate events, and work with volunteers and external groups to ensure services are accessible. The role is non-rotational with no line management responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Faith/belief eligibility as per chosen faith/group.
• Proficient in English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care to prisoners, staff and families as required, liaising with Faith and Belief Adviser.
• Plan and lead worship/meditation and faith-specific meetings.
• Facilitate opportunities for worship, study and religious programmes with volunteers and external groups.
• Contribute to local policy, procedures and practice.
• Provide mentoring and support for chaplains and volunteers, including following incidents.
• Develop links with local faith communities to aid prisoner resettlement.
• Deliver Faith Awareness Training for staff and represent chaplaincy at meetings.
