Job summary

Rethink Mental Illness is seeking a Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to work within North East Prisons at HMP Northumberland. You will deliver low-intensity CBT interventions, assess referrals, support risk management, and help prisoners progress toward recovery.

The role requires IAPT PWP qualification, BACP/BPS accreditation, and experience in stepped care. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, maintain records, and stay aligned with professional guidance and data

Qualifications

• Qualified as an IAPT Low Intensity Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP).
• Accredited PWP with BACP or BPS.
• Post-qualification experience delivering IAPT low-intensity interventions at Step 2.
• Experience in a stepped care service.
• Knowledge of assessment, screening, referrals, record-keeping, and outcome measures.
• Understanding of evidence-based therapies relevant to this role.
• Ability to build therapeutic relationships and respect diversity.
• Commitment to professional registration and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage referrals – determine suitability and ensure appropriate care.
• Support recovery and self-management with clients.
• Deliver low-intensity interventions such as Guided Self-Help.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain accurate records and confidentiality.
• Contribute to service performance and reporting.
• Support continuity of care post-release.
• Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
