Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain seeks an Anglican chaplain for Cookham Wood prison. The role offers pastoral care to prisoners and staff, with multi-faith support and policy delivery. You will work within a multi-faith chaplaincy team in HM Prison and Probation Service in England.

Candidate must be ordained or licensed Anglican minister with Diocesan endorsement and be prepared for regular unsocial hours. Formal endorsement from the HMPPS Anglican Faith and Belief Adviser is required.

Qualifications

• Must hold ordained Anglican standing and endorsement from HMPPS Anglican Faith and Belief Adviser.
• Knowledge of Anglican theology and religious practice.
• Full spoken and written English (Welsh where specified).

Responsibilities

• Provide faith guidance and pastoral care to prisoners, staff and families.
• Plan and lead worship and faith meetings; ensure chaplaincy care at all times.
• Facilitate religious programmes with chaplains, volunteers and external groups.
• Deliver pastoral care, crisis support and mentoring after incidents.
• Support ACCT process and liaise with Faith and Belief Adviser.
• Build links with local faith communities to support release.
