Job summary

The Anglican Chaplain post within the multi-faith chaplaincy team at HMP Onley is a non-operational role in HM Prison & Probation Service. It requires faith-based eligibility, Diocese endorsement, and guarding against safeguarding risks.

The role involves leading worship, pastoral care and engagement with prisoners, staff, and external groups. This position offers flexible/hybrid working and training opportunities, with a strong emphasis on faith provision and community support within the prison

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of Anglican theology and religious practice.
• Understanding of multiple faiths within a multi-faith chaplaincy.
• Ability to conduct services in English (and Welsh where specified).

Responsibilities

• Provide faith and pastoral care to prisoners and staff of the Chaplaincy’s faith group.
• Plan and lead worship, study and prayer sessions.
• Facilitate religious programmes and maintain worship facilities with chaplains and volunteers.
• Provide crisis support and mentor chaplains/volunteers after incidents.
• Support Faith and Belief policy implementation and staff training.
