Job summary

LJ Recruitment is seeking a motivated Press Assistant to join an established print production team in York. You will gain hands-on experience with printing presses, loading materials, and supporting press operators to keep production running smoothly.

You will check print quality, colour and alignment, keep accurate production records, and uphold health and safety standards in a busy studio. If you are practical, detail‑oriented and keen to learn, this is a great place to build a long-term

• Ideally, some knowledge or experience of offset printing processes.
• Experience with printing presses is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the setup and operation of printing presses.
• Prepare and load paper, inks and other production materials.
• Support press operators during printing runs.
• Check print quality, colour, alignment and consistency.
• Identify defects and report issues to senior operators.
• Carry out basic cleaning and maintenance of press equipment.
• Organise completed print jobs and prepare materials for the next stage.
• Maintain accurate production and job records.
• Keep the production area clean, organized and safe.
• Following all company health & safety and quality procedures.
• Working as part of a close-knit production team to meet deadlines and customer requirements.

Working alongside experienced Press Operators, you'll play an important role in keeping production running smoothly, ensuring finished products meet the highest standards of quality and consistency.
