Job summary

UKRN is seeking a Water Resources Planning Lead to join the Water Supply team within the RAPID and Environmental Planning directorate at Principal level. You will lead national water resources policy and investment policy work, engaging with governments, regulators and stakeholders to advance WRMP24 and preparations for WRMP29 and PR29.

You will also steer planning frameworks and lead a technical team, aligning work across regulatory processes and collaborating with regulators to ensure delivery

Responsibilities

• Lead engagement with governments, regulators and stakeholders on national water resources policy and investment policy, including WRMP24 delivery and WRMP29/PR29 preparations.
• Coordinate with partner regulators to agree policy development and technical assessment outcomes.
• Utilise Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to present, communicate and consult on water resources policy decisions and technical issues.
• Steer development of new planning frameworks under Defra’s White Paper on a new water vision.
• Lead a technical team to undertake water resources work and engagement with water companies.
• Design and plan the team’s approaches to meet statutory responsibilities and align with related regulatory frameworks.
• Support involvement in the Water Delivery Taskforce; PR24/PR29 teams and SROs for RAPID; ensure delivery on customers and environment.
• Holding companies to account for delivery on behalf of customers and the environment.
